Would it surprise you to learn that all personal care brands claiming to be "certified organic" use some chemicals and not all their products are organic?
It surprised and bothered me. Before I even thought about creating this website I invested a lot of time looking for effective products to use on myself that were natural. By "natural" I mean "things you pick off a tree and process with nothing more than a knife and a blender" Hair products proved to be the worst; all those different coconut surfactants and isolated vitamins claiming to be natural.
I discovered that when it comes to skin and hair products, the whole wellness community had been corrupted with low standards, weak morals and an unwillingness to admit unhealthy compromises. As for the manufacturers I met, their attitude was "when the going gets tough....give up, use synthetics and hire marketers to cover it up."
I just wanted clean skin, hair and teeth without poisoning myself. I would ask myself things like "how did people care for their skin, hair and teeth before synthetic chemicals were invented? Did they all stink, have rotten teeth and greasy hair?"
From my research into nutrition I knew that synthetic chemicals have existed for less than 100 years. That leaves many thousands of years of humans living without chemicals and history books that are full of people famous for their beautiful skin, hair and teeth. How did they do it and why aren't we doing it? I eventually resorted to making (a big mess in my kitchen) my own products for my hair and skin but it wasn't long before I could go back to using my blender for making smoothies.

In 2008 I formed a relationship with Sam and Grace Culhaci from Sydney; honest, humble people that I regard as peerless innovators and the organic industry's consummate product formulators. And when the going gets tough, Grace perseveres and finds solutions where others don't.
